I've often said to myself that if I didn't have to cook and had someone doing the hard work for me, the weight would drop off. As you know I've recently been told I have diabetes so I'm always trying to find new ways to keep healthy and my blood sugar low.
Well My Zenergy took me up on that challenge and gave me their diet plan to trial for a week!
I must admit I've been a little dubious of 'dinner-to-your-door' concepts in the past; I love cooking and I didn't think that I'd get a lot of variety. One of my friends once did Jenny Craig and her food used to arrive in a gigantic box - as if she was preparing for a zombie apocalypse or nuclear holocaust. So not a good look (!) However I was really wrong and My Zenergy really impressed me with the length and breadth of their menu choices.
The thing that I really liked about My Zenergy is that you received the food fresh each day in the morning before you headed off to work. The delivery is nice and early so there is plenty of time before you catch your tube or bus, and arrives in a pretty white box as shown in the top photo.
Inside there was a whole lot of treats - plenty of healthy snacks and a piece of fruit per day to keep you going, plus freshly prepared, healthy meals, kept chilled with the ice pack inside.
Overall I was really, really impressed with the quality of food. it was great to have portion controlled yoghurt, grains and fruits for breakfast, neat little salads and even steak one night for dinner! Dinners were warm and you popped them in the microwave for a couple of seconds to get them heated and ready to eat - the veggies were really crunchy, just how I like them.
My one improvement to be made on the diet would be to have more warm things for winter - it's so tough dieting in the cold when you're eating salads! I could however definitely see myself ordering this again, especially in Summer when I knew I'd be in a tight spot and super busy, yet still wanting to eat healthily. At only 1,200 calories a day, you'd very quickly see the weight fall off.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Alex from Alex Loves who very kindly offered to allow me to use her beautiful images! I recommend visiting her blog - it's really lovely.
Would you try a 'to your door' diet?

I think that it's usually too expensive, but I could see myself trying it out if they had a special offer. It is a great idea for dieters but, as making your own food usually leads to unexpected calories. x
ReplyDeleteI think for £18 per day it's a very reasonable price, seeing as most people pay around £8 for a shop bought lunch at work anyway! It does always depend on budget, but if money is tight why not try it for a week - it would give you lots of ideas for recipes!
Deletethis looks amazing! Did you loose any weight in the week that you did it? So tempted to try it!
ReplyDeleteIt's a LDN Thing
I did! I lost 3 1/2 pounds which I was pretty impressed with. I didn't feel hungry either, there is lots of snacks and yummy bits to keep you going. Definitely try it!
DeleteAmazing, congrats. I've been a little sneaky and emailed them! Hopefully will be trialing it next week :) x
DeleteI second Millie's comment, did you lose anything? I'd be SO up for doing this at the moment. xx
