Today’s January Joy post is all about new music, which is
one of my favourite things. When I do my monthly updates I try to give you a
little snapshot into what I’m up to through music anyway, so this post was a nice, easy one to write.
I can’t say I’m typical when it comes to music and it really
depends on my mood. These days I either listen to dance music or mellow music,
oscillating depending purely on when I feel happy or sad. For all decent dance
music, I’d recommend a visit to MixMag, aka my daily google.
I was brought up on house music – Danny Rampling, Orbital,
Paul Oakenfold… it really is my first love. I am not particularly an expert on
names or years or anything like that, and I’m certainly not a music snob. But
if you pop on Shoom dance classics, I’m happy.
So there is some new music for you to try. Now for you to
help me. I’m having a bit of an indie, fluffy, mellow, soft, golden music
revival. I can’t listen to dance music *all* the time, after all. I’m not a
trendy indie cindie and I am terrible with music names – therefore your
massively alternative bands with name like pigeon-feeding-detectives-on-a-bike
will totally have passed me by. I’m going to post a few of my favourites as
videos here for you to enjoy, and if there is a track you think I might like
please leave it in the comments!
Phosphorescent - Wolves
Teenage Teardrops (Pyramid remix) - HeartsRevolution
Iron & Wine - Naked as we came
Hope you enjoy these songs, lets's have a talk about music in the comments!
Til next time x

Good use of Hadouken there :)
ReplyDeleteNice songs, heard a lot about HeartsRevolution, and then they sort of vanished!

ReplyDeleteAnd me. It's my music face to a tee.
DeleteI am haunted a substantial amount by that wolves track - it is pure lovely. But James Blake's cover of Case of You is the one that get's me all 14-year-old-let-me-put-lyrics-as-my-MSN-status reflective like.
